I'm getting around thirty spam emails a day now. Half get stopped, but half get through - some of them with links to dodgy sites. So reluctantly I've decided to put the comments moderation facility back. I've disabled the 'word verification', though, so it just means a bit of a delay before you see your comment up there.
Sorry! I know it's a pain, but I can't think what else to do.

If it saves you having to put up with e-mail offers for bigger stationery (I think it's something like that) then it's not a problem Spence.
If you don't post between now and the festives starting I'd like to wish you and the Kennedy clan a fantastic Christmas and New Year.
Absolutely bizarre, many of these spam emails. I suppose they must get something out of it or they wouldn't bother, but you wonder if it can possibly be worth their time (although I know it's all automated). At least with the moderation back on I can relax a bit and not worry about some hideous link going up on the site whilst I'm at work... (still can't update the blog on my Blackberry, for some reason - every day I get closer to getting an iPhone!)
Have a great Christmas yourself, Jacks. I hope you, Mrs J and the girls have a lovely time. I'm aiming to do one more Christmassy post later in the week - I'm hoping for a call-out to 3 wise men, or some Myrrh-related injury.
As long as you don't get called out to a woman labouring in a shed.. :)
Well... wherever the star appears, that's where we go (so long as the SatNav's working) x
Getting my nerd on, the usual answer is Askismet. But it's not a simple one step process in Blogger.
It needs to have Intense Debate installed first, IIRC. That lets readers reply to each other, threaded replies I think it's called. And gives some more choices for the blog owner, might save the need for an iPhone.
Or if you feel very keen, it might be time to migrate the blog over to Wordpress.
Thanks v much Anon.
I must admit I've considered changing over to Wordpress a few times. I really like their interface - and I think it gives more scope for changing the look. But I've resisted because I don't want to confuse things (and me!) The devil you know and all that.
I'm hoping that Blackberry will allow Blogger updates - but if not, when my contract expires, I might change my phone.
You're welcome, Wordpress have a Blackberry app, according to Google.
I know there are plenty of video guides on YouTube on how to migrate.
But most people set up a shadow blog just to get used to how it works for a few weeks, before taking the plunge.
