Sorry to hear about the clothes being shredded, too, Anon. All in all, it sounds like you had a pretty tough time of it.
Spence Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11183848895584919812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27691111.post-34673229095425778252013-10-24T15:57:52.209+00:002013-10-24T15:57:52.209+00:00Unfortunately the people in the other flats were o...Unfortunately the people in the other flats were out at the time, so it was the main front door that had to be smashed. Our internal door was just on a feeble Yale latch and so fell open pretty much as soon as the policeman touched it!

It was a week or so later when we finally got a carpenter around to replace the broken door frame etc. We weren't charged anything for the temporary fix (making it secure) on the day which was basically nailing planks of wood to the door.

It was an expensive day as the paramedics also ruined my clothes (totally reasonable under the circumstances), but I really appreciate everything they did for me and at the end of the day money is nothing in comparison to health!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27691111.post-44930941362168842272013-10-24T14:15:45.991+00:002013-10-24T14:15:45.991+00:00Ouch! When it happened to me, the police remained at my home and arranged for someone to make the property secure whilst I went to hospital. They paid for this part. However, 'secure' doesn't mean the door is actually fixed, which required a carpenter at a cost of around £200, which we paid for. In a block of flats the management company might be responsible for the repair, but I live in a flat that is one of three converted from a period terrace house, so it was up to us.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27691111.post-30070453821937353632013-10-23T22:39:42.769+00:002013-10-23T22:39:42.769+00:00It is a good question. The police bring in a contractor to make the property safe after they've broken in - but who pays for it...?

I suppose I've never really thought of it before because all those times I've been part of a forced entry , the patient has been so ill (or worse) the question's never really come up. :/Spence Kennedyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11183848895584919812noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27691111.post-90397120380900137862013-10-23T20:37:24.018+00:002013-10-23T20:37:24.018+00:00and yet, on some level it seems a legitimate quest...and yet, on some level it seems a legitimate question...Lynda Halliger Otvos (Lynda M O)https://www.blogger.com/profile/08938791116446859160noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27691111.post-8159436633082319972013-10-23T20:10:43.335+00:002013-10-23T20:10:43.335+00:00Nothing is like the telly world Spence.
